After a serious illness, HaGaon HaRav Elchonon Schwimmer zt”l passed away at Hadassa Ein Keren Medical Center in Jerusalem.

Rav Schwimmer was the American-born Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivas Orchos Meir in Bayit Vegan, Jerusalem , and had been the Rosh Yeshiva in Chevron Geulah having taken over from Rav Chaim Sarna, son of Rav Chatzkel Sarna zt”l, prior to his being enlisted to be a Rosh Yeshiva for promising Sefardi Talmidei Chachomim.

Rav Ovadia Yoseph zt”l would often visit and farher Rav Schwimmer’s students. He also joined Rav Schwimmer at the hachnassas Sefer Torah held a number of years ago.

Rav Schwimmer was a close student of the famed Rav Nachum of Mir (Rav Nachum Partzovitz) – the grandson in law of Rav Lazer Yudel Finkel who re-established Mir in Jerusalem after the Holocaust.

Yeshiva Orchos Meir in Bayit Vegan, was established by Rav Avraham Gershon from Venezuela.

The levayah was held at Bais Haknesses Minchas Shlomo in Bayit Vegan, and passed by Yeshiva Orchos Meir. He was buried at Har HaMenuchos. Yehe zichro boruch
